What is ‘Realigning Lives’?

‘Realigning Lives’ is an innovative program launched by our academy aimed at helping ex-offenders reintegrate into society through meaningful employment in the construction industry. By offering training, mentorship, and job opportunities, this initiative seeks to break the cycle of reoffending and create real, lasting change in the lives of individuals and the communities they return to.

Our Marketing Executive, Sophie Brown, and our Trainer, Paul Clarke, attend frequent events to push this initiative.

Why Construction?

The construction industry is one of the few sectors that consistently offers hands-on, skill-based roles with pathways to long-term careers. It’s an environment where hard work, commitment, and growth are not only possible but rewarded. We see this as an opportunity, not only to address a skills shortage in the industry, but also to reduce reoffending and help build futures for those re-entering society.

What does this model look like?

Ex-offenders often face significant barriers to employment, from societal stigma to gaps in work history and a lack of formal qualifications. ‘Realigning Lives’ tackles these challenges head-on by providing:

  • Accredited training tailored to industry standards
  • Mentorship and support services to navigate personal and professional development
  • Job placements within Hercules PLC and it’s network of partners

The goal is simple but powerful, reduce recidivism by equipping individuals with the tools to succeed.
